South African Lily Appeal
“The South African Lily Appeal (http://wildlily.org) is an unofficial fundraising project set up to raise money for two fantastic charities in South Africa.

A community based project centre in Khyamundi, a township next to Stellenbosch, Cape Town, South Africa. This small organisation relies entirely on volunteers and donations to carry on its amazing work with some of the most disadvantaged children in South Africa. It provides creches, woman support and hiv/aids education. It has also recently set up a centre for abandoned or abused children.
Cotlands

An aids orphange based in Somerset West near Cape Town, they have just opened a new wing for children who have been abused / abandoned. Cotlands was excellent at providing pastoral care, medicine, food etc but do not have the funds to provide the children in their care with what is less immediatly necessary, but nevertheless they badly need. This includes things like learning tools, toys and Special days out.
The appeal was set up by Letitia Mckie who is also hoping to raise money for a little girl called Lily.
'While I was in South Africa and working at Cotlands AIDS Hospice I became very close to one little girl who was very sick. I took care of her for 8 weeks and saw her through her recovery. I was constantly amazed at her strength and her spirit and this appeal is a way of helping make sure she continues to be with us for as long as possible. I want to raise a fund of money specifically to give to her foster carers when I go back to South Africa. Hopefully this will make sure she is able to continue on the medication that has saved life and also to help towards her general living costs'.
Long Term we hope to be able to generate enough interest in these three projects to make an annual fund to be split between the three causes.
